The South Carolina Waterfowl Association, a 501(c)(3) non-profit is conducting this raffle under authorization from the South Carolina Secretary of State.
How much does a raffle ticket cost?
Raffle tickets are $20 each, 3 for $50, or 10 for $100.
How many tickets can I buy?
You may purchase as many tickets as you wish.
When will I get my ticket(s)?
As soon as your ticket(s) are purchased, you will receive an email confirming your purchase. Your ticket(s) number are on this email receipt, in green. If you do not receive a confirmation e-mail, please be sure to check your SPAM/JUNK Folders
How many raffle tickets will be sold?
There is no limit on the number of tickets for sale.
What are my odds of winning?
The odds of winning a raffle prize depends on the number of tickets you purchase, and the total number of tickets sold.
Is my raffle ticket tax-deductible?
No. The IRS’s position is that amounts paid for chances to win in raffles, lotteries, or similar drawings for valuable prizes are wagers, and consequently do not qualify as deductible charitable contributions.
When are the ticket purchase deadlines and drawings?
Ticket Purchase Deadline: Monday, May 15, 2023 at 11:59PM (CST).
Drawing: Tuesday, May 16, 2023.
How will the winners be notified?
Within five (5) days following the Drawing, SCWA will attempt to contact each of the first Thirty (30) Potential Winners selected in the Drawing (each “Top Thirty Winner” and collectively the “Top Thirty Winners“) by phone or email using the contact information listed in such Top Thirty Winner’s Entry form (the “Notification“). Within seven (7) days of the Notification, each Top Thirty Winner will be required to provide SCWA with each of the following:
(i) a copy of a valid driver’s license or other valid identification issued to the Top Thirty Winner, evidencing that the Top Thirty Winner is at least the age of majority as of the date of entry into this Raffle;
(ii) an Affidavit of Eligibility and Liability/Publicity Release, in such form as is provided by SCWA, fully signed by the Top Thirty Winner, attesting to such Potential Winner’s eligibility and compliance with the Official Rules; and
(iii) a fully completed and signed W-9 tax form.
When is the drawing held?
The electronic drawing will be held on May 16, 2023. The Top Thirty Winners will be posted on the Mega Conservation Education Raffle Web Site on May 31, 2023.
Can I be entered into just one prize drawing?
No. There is only one drawing. Every ticket sold will be eligible for all of the prizes.
Can I win more than one prize?
Yes. If you purchase more than one ticket, you are eligible to win more than one prize. Each ticket is assigned a unique identification number and every remaining ticket number is eligible to be drawn after the previous winning number is drawn.
Do I have to be present at the drawing to win?
No. You do not need to be present to win.
What if I don’t like or am unable to accept the prize I win? Is there a cash alternative?
No. There are no cash alternatives to the prizes won. If a winner does not accept the prize, another winner will be drawn from the remaining tickets.
How do I claim my prize(s)?
Upon SCWA verification of (i) the Top Thirty Winner’s eligibility and compliance with the Official Rules; and (ii) verification of receipt of the properly completed Paperwork by the Top Thirty Winner within the allocated time frame, SCWA will coordinate to make available the applicable Top Thirty Prize; provided, however, that SCWA, in its sole discretion, shall make the final determination of the pickup date and location of each Prize.
What About Taxes?
SCWA will issue a 1099-Misc for Prizes, to the extent required by applicable law. Each Potential Winner is responsible for any payment of all local, state and federal taxes resulting from the income attributable to the receipt of any Prize, and should consult his or her professional legal and accounting advisors regarding the tax effects of his or her respective Prize(s). It is the responsibility of each Potential Winner to determine, to his or her satisfaction, the value of his or her respective Prize(s), and the tax effect and liabilities associated with each of them, in light of his or her personal financial circumstances.
Are any of the hunting trips, fishing trips or house rentals transferable?
No.
How are the proceeds generated by the raffle used?
Proceeds from the Mega Conservation Education Raffle will help to educate the next generation of natural resource conservationists while also giving back to those who put their lives on the line to defend our country. Fifty percent of the net proceeds from the Mega Conservation Education Raffle will endow scholarships for active duty and retired US military Veterans, their children, and grandchildren to attend the Camp Woodie youth conservation education camp and weekend parent/child Outdoor Heritage hunting, fishing, and shooting sports events at the South Carolina Waterfowl Association (SCWA) Wildlife Education Center. The other fifty percent of net proceeds will fund the expansion of programs at the SCWA Wildlife Education Center. These funds will help us to achieve our goal of annually hosting 2,400 summer Camp Woodie Campers, 15,000 Camp Leopold school year campers, and over 15,000 youth and adults at our Outdoor Heritage events held at the SCWA Wildlife Education Center.
